Narrative and storytelling are important to me. While I’m active on social media and on multiple professional fronts, the various platforms sometimes fail to capture the essence of humans. Briefly, I grew up in Louisiana, attending Tulane for my undergraduate degree where I mostly listened to music and DJ’d on WTUL New Orleans.  Then I got into medical school at Cornell (in Manhattan) and went on to train at NYU/Bellevue in Emergency Medicine. Along the way I became the Chief of Emergency Services at Bellevue, did some fellowship training in safety/quality and wilderness medicine, then moved to Denver for a similar role at the University of Colorado where I served as the Chief of Clinical Operations for 5 years. I then completed my Executive Healthcare MBA and transitioned to Medcor where I serve as a Vice President of Clinical Affairs and Associate Medical Director. I’m still an active faculty member and continue to work clinical shifts in the emergency department. Over the years I’ve served as a co-host on SiriusXM’s Doctor Radio and still make some appearances, enjoy racing bicycles competitively for the Rocky Mountain Road Club and have come to love skiing. I ski a lot (nordic and alpine) and have a deep love of all things cycling, photography, cats (dogs are cool too). Personal health, wellness and work life integration are important themes… no one gets it right but we’re all supposed to try (to paraphrase Songs: Ohio). I do quite a bit of consulting for Fortune 500 companies and enjoy medical legal work given my deep interest in quality and safety. Most of all, I try to be kind and lead with empathy. The last few months have not been easy and we could all use a little compassion in our lives.

Other Things

I spend a great deal of time riding bicycles, my primary outlet for suffering and clearing my head. I race Cat 3 Masters in cyclocross for the Rocky Mountain Road Club and enjoy road and mountain biking.

I grew up in Louisiana surrounded by water and spent 15 years in New York City where I enjoyed sailing in Long Island Sound. In Denver and Summit County, CO we try to stay connected to water by stand up paddleboarding.

I never experienced snow until I was an adult in medical school, learning to snowboard in the Catskills (Hunter Mountain!). In Colorado I spend a great deal of time on alpine and nordic skis making up for lost time. I gave up snowboarding and prefer two planks.
